Smith (Mrs.
J. T. Smith) 1896-1943
Alexa Smith moved to Texas when she was very young
from Millersburg, Kentucky where she was born. She attended Baylor
University in Waco, Texas and settled in San Antoni in 1903. She
had many instructors including Rolla Taylor, Xavier Gonzalez, Bernhardt Wall, Harry
Anthony De Young, Dawson Dawson-Watson, and Jose Arpa.
Smith exhibited her work throughout Texas. She was part of the the
San Antonio Artists Guild and the Southern States Art Legeue.
