Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada Lillian Ferguson was
educated in a convent in Winnipeg. She began Painting in 1885 and
took private lessons with W.L. Forster in Toronto. She later taught
at the Winnipeg Art School.
She married and spent a lot of time in Scotland and Paris. She studied in Paris
and in Holland. She and her husband, Peter moved to Southern
California around 1911. Lillian built a home and
studio in Laguna Beach when Peter Ferguson died in 1918 There she spent the rest of her life. She
died in Los Angeles on February 2, 1955.
She was a member of the California Art Club, the
Women Painters of the West, and the San Diego Fine Arts Society.
